Hardening of the Arteries
(Atherosclerosis)

Hardening of the arteries (arthrosclerosis) is a disorder in which arteries (blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood from the heart to other parts of the body) become narrowed because fat (cholesterol deposits called atherosclerosis) is first deposited on the inside walls of the arteries, then becomes hardened by fibrous tissue and calcification (arteriosclerosis). com

Carotid Artery Disease

Carotid artery disease is defined by the narrowing or blockage of this artery due to plaque build-up. The process that blocks these arteries (atherosclerosis) is basically the same as that which causes both coronary artery disease and that causes peripheral arterial disease (PAD). org

How to Treat Hardening of the Arteries

There is no absolute treatment for the hardening of arteries, but there are measures you can take to prevent the problem from getting worse. com
