Cirrhosis is a chronic disease that is characterized by a permanently injured and scarred liver. Cirrhosis is the end-stage of chronic liver damage. Many patients may have no symptoms until it is to late.  Complications include jaundice, ascites, edema, bleeding esophageal varices, blood coagulation abnormalities, coma and death.
